The Santa Monica Theatre Guild owns and operates the Morgan-Wixson Theatre as a not-for-profit volunteer community theatre. Volunteers are the heart of our organization and as ticket revenues cover only 70% of our operating expenses, we rely in part on membership dues and charitable contributions.

Volunteer

The first step to involvement is becoming a volunteer! Much of the work that allows us to put our shows "on the boards" is done behind the scenes by members of the board, members of the guild and of course, our many volunteers. Please call the box office at (310) 828-7519 if you would like to help with auditions, preparing mailings, hospitality, set construction and painting, ushering, props, costumes, sound, lights, publicity or any other aspect of theatre life. No experience necessary. Some of us just came in to ask directions and we're still here!

Membership

This level of involvement is for volunteers who would also like to participate in the organizational life of the guild. Members are entitled to a single admission to each production, the right to vote at membership meetings (including electing the Board of Directors), a membership newsletter and the right to cast ballots for our annual Geoffrey Award nominations. Members are also invited to the Geoffrey Award ceremony each December. In return, members are required to pay their dues, participate in the production activity of at least three productions, and attend at least three membership meetings each year. Members are also able to serve on any of our committees: By-Laws/House Rules, Director Selection, Fundraising, Geoffrey Awards, Play Reading, Youth Education/Entertainment Series (Y.E.S.), Season Brochure, Sales & Marketing, Membership & Volunteers, Talent Relations. Membership dues in the SMTG is $35 per year for individuals, $25 for youth (18 or under) and $50 for families. Contributions

The Santa Monica Theatre Guild is a non-profit 501(c)[3] tax-exempt organization and as such, your donation is tax deductible in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code, to the extent provided by law. Contributions may be made by calling the box office or sending a check, payable to the Santa Monica Theatre Guild, to 2627 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90405. Auditions

All auditions are open calls, with notices posted in BackStage West and on our website. You may also call the box office for audition information, approximately 8-10 weeks before a show opens. Mainstage auditions are posted on the Our Season page, and Y.E.S. auditions are posted on the For Kids page.
