The true stories of six courageious women and the war that changed them |
A Piece of My Heart by Shirley Lauro
September 28 through October 27, 2007
This award winning drama tells the powerful, true Vietnam War drama of six women (four nurses, a Red Cross volunteer and an USO entertainer) and their struggle to make sense of the war that changed both them and the nation that shunned them. Based on true stories collected in a book of the same name, charged with contemporary resonances and told with strightforward authenticity, these are profound stories of triumph and reconciliation.

42nd Street Music and lyrics by Al Dubin and Harry Warren, book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble Based on the film 42nd Street and the novel by Bradford Ropes 12th Annual Youth Musical
November 10, 17,18, 24, 25, 26, 2007 December 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 2007
Come and meet those dancing feet! Ingenue Peggy Swayer lands her first job in the chorus of a new Broadway show. When the star, Miss Dorothy Brock, has an accident, Peggy is given the chance of a lifetime. Inspired by Busby Berkeley's 1933 movie, the musical includes one great Warren-Dubin number after another, making it a feast of titanium-plated hits that include "You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me," "Shuffle off to Buffalo," "We're in the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," and of course, the show-stopping "42nd Street."

So funny - you'll forget to age |
Social Security by Andrew Bergman
January 18 through February 16, 2008
Written by one of Hollywood's funniest screenwriters (The In-Laws, Blazing Saddles, Fletch), Social Security is a comedy about married art gallery owners Barbara and David Kahn, whose domestic tranquility is shattered by the arrival of Barbara's sister, brother-in-law, and eccentric septuagenarian mother, Sophie. When the Kahns introduce Sophie to their best client, a nonagenarian minimalist artist, comic sparks fly and Sophie's twilight years brighten in unexpected ways.

Sometimes it's not the clothes that make the man |
The Full Monty Book by Terrence McNally, music and lyrics by David Yazbek
March 14 through April 12, 2008
This musical adaptation of the comedic British film turns the "let's put on a show" genre on its ear, as a group of unemployed steelworkers prepares to present their own Chippendales-style show in workingclass Buffalo, New York. The journey of these men, from the breadlines to the unlikeliest of chorus lines, proves transforming in unexpected ways. Nominated for 10 Tony Awards, The Full Monty had the misfortune of premiering on Broadway the same year as The Producers, which overshadowed this superb piece of American musical comedy.

A lyrical and powerful play about the intimacy of love |
Intimate Apparel by Lynn Nottage
May 2 through May 31, 2008
Esther, a thirty-five-year-old spinster African-American seamstress in 1905 Manhattan, earns a living creating exquisite custom lingerie for women of the boudoir and the brothel alike. The intimate undergarments become a metaphor for the intimate relationships she develops with her clients. Painfully lonely, she dreams of a better life and finding a husband. She becomes a new woman when she falls in love with a handsome Barbadian laborer who woos her through a series of romantic letters, while her friendship with a shy Jewish fabric merchant grows in unexpected ways. This winner of five national awards for Best Play tells the story of one woman's passion to break free and be herself in a society where she cannot quite fit into the set patterns that are stitched for African-American women.
